What weekly mowing does wrong
Most tired lawns were not neglected, they were cut badly. Scalping takes off too much leaf at once and the grass answers by going pale and thin, and mowing the same line every week presses ruts into soft ground. We raise the height when the weather turns dry, change direction visit to visit, and keep the blades sharp so the tips are cut rather than torn.
What happens on your day
You don't need to be home. The crew mows, cuts the edges, works the beds, then blows the hard surfaces clean and shuts the gates behind them. If the ground is too soft to drive a mower over without leaving marks, we move the visit and message you that morning instead of letting you wonder, and the visit gets made up. If something isn't right when you get home, tell us and we come back.
How to judge a maintenance quote
The cheapest per-visit number usually covers the lawn and nothing else. Ask what happens to the beds, whether hedges and shrubs are in or billed separately, how often someone is coming, and whether it is the same crew each time. A quote that answers all four is comparable to another one. A single price with no list behind it is not.

Weekly & Fortnightly Maintenance: common questions
How short should the grass be cut?
Higher than most people expect. Longer leaf shades the soil, holds moisture and crowds out weeds, so we set the height to the season rather than cutting everything as low as it will go. Short grass in a dry spell is what turns a lawn brown fastest.
What if I'm not home on my visit day?
That is the normal arrangement. Tell us how to get in, whether a gate needs unlatching and if there's a dog, and the crew works around it. You get the schedule so you know which day you're on.
Is every other week enough, or do I need weekly?
It depends on the season and how fast your lawn grows. Through the strong growing weeks, weekly keeps the cut light; in slower months every other week is usually plenty. We tell you which your garden needs rather than selling you the bigger number.

Most of our rounds are in inner southeast Portland; if you are just outside one, ask — sometimes a street is a short hop from an existing route and sometimes it honestly is not.
