The layout decides whether you like it
Finishes are what people shop for, and layout is what they live with. How far the sink sits from the range, whether the dishwasher door blocks the fridge, whether the trash is where you stand to chop — those get settled on paper, and they are almost impossible to change once the cabinets are on the wall. Drawers hold more than lower doors and you can see what is in them. We walk the space with you and talk through the daily path before anything gets ordered.
What shows up when the cabinets come out
Cabinets hide a lot: the old floor stops at their toe kick, the subfloor is rarely flat, and the plumbing and wiring behind them were run for a kitchen that no longer exists. Older houses also hand you a previous remodel done badly. Cabinets sit on the floor and hang off the wall, so out-of-level and out-of-plumb has to be corrected first or every door and drawer line will tell on it. When we find something, we stop, show you, and price the options before we keep going.
How to read a kitchen quote
Look for the things that are easy to leave out. Does the quote name the cabinet box construction and the drawer glides or just say cabinets, and are the counter template, the appliance hookups, the permits, the disposal and the floor prep inside the number or outside it? A shorter quote is usually not a cheaper kitchen, only a less specific one, and the missing items come back later as change orders. Ours is written line by line for that reason, and changes only happen with your written approval.

Kitchen Remodel Services: common questions
Can we live in the house while the kitchen is being done?
Most people do. You will be without a kitchen sink and a range for part of it, so it helps to set up a temporary kitchen somewhere else in the house with the fridge, the microwave and the coffee maker. We tell you ahead of time which days the water or power to that area is off.
Can we keep the cabinets we have?
It depends on the boxes and on the layout. If the boxes are solid and the layout already works, refinishing or refacing them is a real option. If the layout is the problem, new cabinets are the only way to fix it, and paint will not. We look at yours and tell you which one you have.
Does a kitchen remodel need a permit?
It depends on the work. Swapping cabinets and counters in the same footprint usually does not, while moving plumbing, adding circuits or taking out a wall usually does. On anything that needs one, we pull the permit and schedule the inspections, and keep the paperwork for your file.
