A sticking door is usually not the door
Most of the time the door is fine and something around it moved — the frame settled, a hinge screw stripped, or the strike plate sits a fraction out of line. We check that first, because replacing a door that did not need replacing is the expensive way to fix it.
Locks, keys and moving in
New house, lost key, or a tenant moving out: locks can be changed and keyed alike so one key opens everything you want it to. Tell us which doors should share a key and whether you want spares.
Exterior doors
An exterior door that drags is usually also letting weather in. While it is open we look at the sweep, the threshold and the weather stripping, and price anything worn out along with the rest of the job.
How It Works
- 01
Send Us The List
Call, text or send photos. The whole list, not the one thing you think is worth bothering us about — it is cheaper to do eight things in one visit than eight things in eight.
- 02
You Hear Back Today
A real person, the same day. For most lists we can price it from photos; if it needs a look, we come and look for free.
- 03
One Price, Agreed First
You get the list back with a price against it before anything starts. Nothing gets added without you saying yes to it first.
- 04
We Turn Up When We Said
A real arrival window, not 'sometime Tuesday' — and a call if anything moves it. Most lists are done in a single visit.
- 05
We Walk It With You
We go down the list together before we pack up. Anything you are not happy with gets sorted then, not scheduled for another day.
Doors, Locks & Hardware: common questions
Can a sticking door be fixed without replacing it?
Usually. Sticking, dragging and not latching are almost always hinges, a settled frame or a misaligned strike plate. We tell you when the door itself really is the problem.
Can you change the locks and make one key fit them all?
Yes — locks can be keyed alike so one key opens the doors you choose. Say which doors, and how many spare keys you want.
Do you fit smart locks?
Yes, on doors that will take one. Some older doors need the hole or the backset changed first, so it is worth checking before you buy the hardware.
Helping homeowners throughout Washington County
Most of our work is in Washington County and the streets around it, which is how we can usually get to a list within the week rather than the month. If you are just outside, call anyway — we will tell you straight if we can get there.
