Repair or replace
One damaged board or a few cracked tiles is a repair. A floor lifting in several rooms usually has a cause underneath it — moisture, a failing subfloor, or an install that skipped the expansion gap — and patching that only moves the problem along. We tell you which one you have.
Squeaks
A squeak is movement between the boards and the subfloor. Where we can reach it from below it is a quick fix. From above it takes fasteners into the joists, placed where they will not show.
Keeping the match
Older flooring rarely matches new stock, so the spare boxes in the garage are worth more than you would think. With no spares, we can often lift material from a closet or from under an appliance and put the odd board in the hidden spot instead.

Can you match my existing floor?
With spares, yes. Without them an exact match on older flooring is rare, so we usually take material from a hidden area and leave the mismatch where nobody looks.
Do you install whole new floors?
Small areas and single rooms, yes. A whole-house install belongs to a flooring contractor and we will say so rather than stretch.
My floor squeaks everywhere — is that serious?
Usually not, though it can point at the subfloor. We look at what is moving and tell you whether it is fasteners or something bigger.
