Swapping out what is already there is handyman work. Adding a circuit, changing the panel, running new wire inside walls or anything needing a permit is a licensed electrician's job. That line is not caution, it is what keeps the work legal and insurable, and we do not cross it.
A ceiling fan needs the right box
A fan cannot hang from a standard light box — it needs a fan-rated one that carries the weight and the movement. If yours is not, we tell you what it takes to put that right instead of hanging it and hoping.
What turns up behind old fixtures
Older houses hand you aluminum wire, no ground, or a box crowded with connections. When any of that shows up we stop, show you, and say whether it is a fix we can do or one for an electrician.

Light Electrical: common questions
Can you add an outlet or a light where there is none?
That usually means new wiring, which is an electrician's job. Replacing an outlet, switch or fixture that is already there is ours.
Can you hang a ceiling fan where a light is now?
If the box is fan-rated, yes. If it is not, the box has to be changed first and we will tell you what that involves.
Do you do panel work or add circuits?
No. Panels, circuits and permitted work go to a licensed electrician — we hand it over rather than half-do it.
